04The basic scope of business of PPZ "Trzemeszno" consists in producing of potato starch. Depending on the client’s needs, the products are offered in bags of 0.5 kg, 1 kg, 25 kg, and in big-bags.

Potato starch is obtained by mechanically separating starch grains from the remaining potato components, followed by rinsing, cleaning, drying and screening.

Starch is a polysaccharide fulfilling the role of plant reserve spare material. The crystal structure of a starch grain is made of large, highly branched molecules of amylopectin , and long, chain-like molecules of amylose. As amylose and amylopectine differ in many essential features, their proportion in the composition in a specific type of starch determines the starch physical and chemical properties. Starch counts among the most multifunctional raw materials in the food industry. In a part of applications its natural gelating and thickening properties are used. In food and pharmaceutical industry starch is used to give products an appropriate texture, appearance (form), humidity, consistence and storage life.
